Here are a few unusual excursions/adventures/tours/experiences which are available in Costa Rica. You won't often hear about these...

1) CraigCat: These fun little 2-person boats are a blast. You can just ride around for an hour, fish, or take a guided tour.

2) La Paz Waterfall Gardens and Animal Refuge: This is one of my personal favorite "tours" in Costa Rica. The Animal Refuge at La Paz is the best in Costa Rica. The Waterfalls are epic. The very best part of the experience is the afternoon feeding of the cats. Don't miss that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL5N3pi-w38

3) Domestic Airline Flight from San Josť to Quepos: This short and inexpensive flight, on either Sansa or Nature Air, is one of the best in-flight experiences in the world. The en-route scenery is absolutely spectacular.

4) Hotel Alta Las Palomas: Old-World Spanish Colonial Excellence at its very finest. The restaurant (La Luz) is also exceptional. La Luz occasionally offers live music during dinner, featuring Costa Rican jazz vocalist Sasha Campbell.

5) Rancho Pacifico: The mountainous cloud forest area directly above Uvita, overlooking the "Whale's Tail", is home to a few high-end resorts, and Rancho Pacifico is the best of them all, in my opinion. The two "Treehaus" villas are the best accommodations on the property. Most afternoons, the whole resort feels like it is "flying" through the clouds and fog, which move into the area almost every afternoon.

6) Tulemar: The Tulemar resort contains a hotel, several small cabins, and several large villas. Regardless of the accommodations that you choose, Tulemar's restaurant/bar/pool facility, as well as three other pool areas, are always available. Tulemar also maintains a "private" beach with a small bar and grill.
