What do we know about air travel?

It's hard to say. We know a lot. We don't know a lot. The public "knows" a lot more than it really actually knows. The public also doesn't "know" a lot more than it really actually knows. It's a conundrum, I know. But... that's the way that it is...

Air travel is one of those oddities... a profession, much like the medical profession, where the consumer is often tricked into "knowing" more than he actually "knows." Just as an example, most consumers believe that they are getting "ripped off" by the airlines, when, in fact, airline ticket prices today are the lowest that they have ever been, historically, in the entire history of flight, when adjusted for inflation.
