This is just a Personal report... not even the result of a Business report or scouting trip:

I had a steak at Don Fernando a few days ago -- at the location in Guachipelín. This place still gets my vote for the best steak in Costa Rica. You can pick your own cut from the case, of course... and since the guy grills everything in the open dining area, you can have a seat and watch him grill it, if you like. By now, the guy knows me. If it's your first time eating there, then you need to be explicit about how you want your steak. They do understand "Rare"... but you need to make it clear, if that is what you want.

I've eaten dinner there several times. I'm not saying that it's the most Epic steak that I've ever had, on every single occasion. What I AM saying is that the steaks there are consistently exceptional, and they know what the hell they are doing. If you get a chance, it's worth the trip. Skip the rush-hour traffic, and it's less than 30 minutes from the Gulch. It's very close to Multiplaza Escazú, IMAX, and the Grand Casino (Sheraton).
