    Chica Friendly Hotels

There are a decent number of hotels that are NOT chica friendly in Jaco, so knowing which ones allow chicas can save you some headaches.

Hotel Cocal and Casino/ Vista Mar Condos
    Copacabana Hotel
    Docelunas Hotel
    Hotel Poseidon
    Club del Mar Hotel
    Morgan's Cove
Canciones del Mar/Del Rey Beach Hotel

This is a cursory list. It will be expanded shortly.

Whatever happened to expanding the list? I'm sure you know a few others by now.

There are a few hotels in Jaco that will allow girls back to your room, but don't really advertise that fact. The good news is that most of those places don't charge a "Chica Fee" because they don't have a system set up to collect a Chica Fee.

I realize that a lot of folks are going to read this post, roll their eyes, and say, "Geez, Speedy1. Thanks for the helpful advice -- NOT!"

Well... Welcome to Jaco. Bringing a girl or girls into your hotel room depends a lot upon your interaction with the owner or manager. Downtown Jaco is not Downtown San Jose. When one Jaco hotel manager farts, every other hotel manager in Jaco knows within 30 seconds what he had for breakfast. So, there are quite a few hotels in Jaco that will want to size you up before disclosing their "girl" policy. One rowdy customer for one night could mean that everyone in Jaco will hate that hotel manager forever. It's possible to convince some of them over the phone that you'll be a neighbor-conscious client. For others, it might take a face-to-face meeting. For still others, you might need to be a repeat customer first.

I will be going to Jaco this Thursday (October 9th) and it will be my first time in Costa Rica. I will be staying at the Copacabana but am not looking for a real crazy scene. Amy advice on where to go and what to avoid? Should I do a different hotel?

If you're not looking for a real crazy scene, you may have picked the wrong hotel!

Actually, this month in Jaco is usually pretty slow, so the odds of a crazy scene are pretty slim. The last time I was at Copacabana (earlier this year, during high season), I ended up stumbling into a 5-girl, 3-guy orgy. Copa is the undisputed champ of Jaco weird-ass kinky sex. I've seen shit there that would make Malcolm X turn White. A close second is the condos (Vista Mar) at the Cocal.

However, at this time of year, pretty much everything in Jaco is tame. Evenings at the Cocal are guaranteed to bag a girl or two, if the price is right.

Heading back to Jaco next month, but the Cocal is sold out. Is there a nearby hotel that is chica friendly? Has anyone checked out Mango Mar?

Morgan's Cove and Hotel Poseidon are close, and generally get good marks and reviews. Both have been chica-friendly in the past.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone:

High Season in Jaco means Full Hotels. From Today through Most of April, getting a room at a place like Cocal starts to get pretty close to impossible. If you don't have a room NOW for your stay in Jaco, you need to get on the stick.

A couple of notes about getting a High Season room in Jaco:

    1) Most of the popular hotels have "Length of Stay" restrictions. This is often not mentioned on their websites. If you try to book a room just for Saturday night, the site may tell you that no rooms are available. You often must book at least 2 or 3 nights in a row, especially for Thursday through Sunday.

    2) Although I personally much prefer to book online, it is often better to call the hotel on the phone directly during this time of year, for Jaco stays. Hotels often hold rooms back from the online booking sites. If you are looking online, sometime Expedia, Travelocity, etc. will have rooms that are not available on the hotel's own website. You can also get your name on a list, in case there is a cancellation.

Good advice Speedy, the last time I stayed at Hotel Poseidon, they charged me a $10 guest fee, the night guys were not very good at it since I was only charged one night out of four. The owner also told me that expedia takes 20% of the reservation. Would be nice to know if there are a few more tica friendly places.

It's always hard to find the Really Good places. And... They change frequently. Poseidon is very close to Cocal and the center of the action, so... they are starting to become Dickheads... slowly but surely. It won't be long (maybe late this season or next season), before they become total assholes. That's pretty typical. New venues are already moving in. It pays to keep pace with changing times.

I love Costa Rica and Ticos/Ticas, but one thing is for sure... Ticos have No Idea how to build and maintain a good business. Poseidon will Fold. Cocal will Fold. They will ALL Fold... UNLESS they get their Shit Together and start conducting business the "Right Way" ... Very, Very Soon. Beatle Bar had the World In Its Pocket! And... Beatle Bar just threw that away. It has happened many times... And it will happen again, many times.

    -----------------

My advice to Gringo Mongers? Forget about the "Loyalty" until someone deserves it. Go to Cocal, etc. this year. Next year, it might be another venue.
