He never had to bug guys for money they'd promised months earlier. His cell phone never rang with an angry Tom/Bill/Jimmy/Jeff on the other end telling him to take down an unflattering review from a member or stay out of their hotel. Such is the disadvantage of being a local.

I actually thought being a local would be to my advantage, and at some level, it is. But there are liabilities to being so available to the trailer park illuminati.
I 100% get that. Running CRT from Miami is pretty much like being the guy in the USA that is in charge of sending the materials from the USA down to Hispaniola to be sewn into Wrangler Jeans. You never have to actually SEE the real life that you're promoting.

Costa Rica IS NOT, in any way, shape, or form, the same as life in the USA. SO WHAT?!?!?! That doesn't make it any better or worse than any other country on the planet. You, Jonesie, seem to get this -- I think many others do not. I see guys like the group that came down here to open up the Mona Lisa -- and they're trying to make a little Tropicana or Horseshoe, just as if it were transplanted right out of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Holy Crap! I feel as if I'm beating my head against the wall trying to convince people that this is NOT, and NEVER WILL BE, any kind of USA idea of how things work. It's ALIEN down here, just as in every other country that I have been to, throughout the world. Up is down, and left is right. The sooner you get those ideas in your head, the sooner you will Scooby-Doo the front of my Ice Cream and Sofa Television. I think I made my point there. You have to let go of your pre-conceived ideas, if you really want to experience another culture. Costa Rica is PERFECT -- for some people. Others will not think so, and will end up in Colombia, France, or Antarctica.

So with the sale of the Mona Lisa to be a gay hotel, perhaps CRT will be gay friendly... I swear I couldn't make this shit up...

That caught me a bit off guard as well, but it does kind of make sense. First of all, lots of people (including myself) have been thinking for quite a while that the current owners have been trying to keep the Mona Lisa doors open long enough to attract a buyer. Tons of old posts about that here. As poorly as Mona Lisa has done, they did manage to prop it up long enough to get somebody interested.

Properly refurbished above the first floor, Mona Lisa is a potential gold mine -- always has been. Almost 100 rooms and an already running casino. I know a little bit about Andalusian, and this is a plausible but shaky proposition. Number one, it's a company that has yet to produce a real product, and is a penny stock that has lost its ass lately. We might be trading one shell game for another.

On the other hand, this concept has potential. I am LGBT neutral, so that factor doesn't bother me. However, it will probably bother a hell of a lot of Ticos and Ticas. No one in Costa Rica has ever tried anything gay-friendly this big before, to my knowledge. Trend-Setters or an Implosion just waiting to happen. I would definitely rather see Mona Lisa flourish as an LGBT-focused establishment than to see it close its doors. Chances are if the new owners can run the place right and have enough capital, the Casino will blow the doors off of anything else downtown.

Ha, I have to give them credit for holding it together long enough for the lifeboat to show up. If the place is indeed a penny-stock like you say, then who knows how it plays out in the end. Could be a changing of the shady guard. Time will tell.

Lustgraaf also bought crt as part of this scheme, it will be interesting to see how that plays out as well. I'm sure a few of the Off-Broadway guys will be glad those 93 rooms got moved out of the trailer park.

This anotherdelusion outfit didn't try to have me deported last year, Lustgraaf did. So even if they require all their guests to show up in drag, it's not my problem.

So will CRT now be a 'gay friendly' monger site?

    Well, that didn't take long...

Quotes on Andalusian stock have been removed from some OTC sites due to some "iffy" issues with their business practices. This deal may fall apart before it even begins.

From the "Investor" link on Andalusian's own website:

Oh, man! When Pigs Fly! I had a break from my travels today to do some research on the Andalusian/Mona Lisa Deal.

    I Never say "Never", but...

Andalusian is offering $10K in Andalusian stock as the purchase price. The condition of sale is that the stock must trade at a minimum $1.10 per share for 10 consecutive days.

Andalusian stock gives "Pink Sheets" a bad name. A name so bad, in fact, that it appears that OTC quoting has been halted by many sites. That's after the price dropped to $0.01. The stock is, for all practical purposes, worthless.

    ------------------

Edit: That's $10 Million, not $10K, all in Andalusian stock

I'll be on a scouting trip on June 3. If anyone hears anything, please post it here so my phone will beep. I can't wait to hear the news.
